The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has strongly condemned remarks made by Dharmapuri Arvind, Member of Parliament from Nizamabad, demanding the renaming of the historic district to Indur. The BJP MP allegedly made derogatory comments against the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan and termed the name Nizamabad as “Manhoos”. MBT spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan described the statements as highly objectionable, irresponsible, and provocative, calling them an insult to the history, culture, and composite heritage of Telangana.

Amjed Ullah Khan stated that these comments are deliberately aimed at hurting sentiments and disturbing communal harmony. He alleged that the remarks are part of a calculated political attempt to polarise society ahead of the forthcoming Municipal Elections in Nizamabad. The MBT spokesman emphasized that such inflammatory statements undermine the peaceful coexistence that has characterized the region’s history.

The MBT has accused both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen of playing a tacitly coordinated drama on the renaming issue. Despite claiming to be political rivals, both parties allegedly created unnecessary controversy during a recent meeting convened by the Nizamabad Municipal Commissioner, instead of focusing on genuine civic problems facing the city.

The organization has demanded that the Commissioner of Police, Nizamabad District take suo motu cognizance of the inflammatory and derogatory statements made by the BJP MP. MBT has called for the registration of a criminal case under relevant sections of law for promoting enmity, hurting Muslim religious sentiments, and disturbing peace in the district. The demand reflects growing concerns about the use of communal rhetoric in the political discourse.

Amjed Ullah Khan appealed to the people of Nizamabad to see through what he termed the divisive political agenda of both BJP and AIMIM. He urged residents not to fall prey to attempts at polarisation for electoral gains. The MBT spokesman highlighted that both parties have failed to address core issues such as unemployment, poor civic infrastructure, drinking water scarcity, sanitation, and public welfare, and are now resorting to communal and emotional provocation to divert public attention.
