Hyderabad – Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has started building a modern Osmania General Hospital at the Goshamahal Police Stadium. The construction launch coincided with the Dussehra festival. K. Govardhan Reddy, MEIL’s President of Projects, performed traditional ceremonies to begin the work. Earlier this year, on January 31, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for this significant project.
The hospital will be ready in 30 months and will span 26 acres with a built-up area of 32 lakh sq. ft. It will house 2,000 beds. The complex will feature a main hospital block of 22.96 lakh sq. ft., along with academic blocks, male and female hostels, a dharamshala, a mortuary, and utility and security buildings. A two-level basement will offer parking for 1,500 vehicles.
The hospital will include 29 major and 12 minor operation theatres, a helipad, and advanced medical facilities like robotic surgery theatres and transplant units, in addition to sewage treatment and biomedical waste systems. The plan also includes colleges for nursing, dental, and physiotherapy.
Design features like rooftop terrace gardens and advanced cross-ventilation will ensure good airflow and patient comfort. At the launch event, K. Govardhan Reddy promised to meet the project deadline and highlighted that the facilities will be on par with top private hospitals, featuring the latest technology and modern infrastructure.
