Hyderabad, November 2, 2025: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Mohd. Shabbir Ali launched a scathing attack on the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), accusing the party of acting as the “B-Team of the BJP” in several states, including Bihar.
Shabbir Ali alleged that the AIMIM’s strategy of contesting in Muslim-majority constituencies was aimed at splitting secular votes, ultimately benefiting the BJP. He cited the Bihar elections as an example, where AIMIM’s participation allegedly weakened opposition unity.
“MIM has been playing into BJP’s hands by dividing anti-BJP votes. This time, they won’t even save their deposits,”
— Shabbir Ali said in a sharp statement.
Interestingly, despite his criticism, AIMIM is seen actively supporting and campaigning for the Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the ongoing Jubilee Hills by-election in Telangana. Political observers view this as an unusual alignment between the two parties, raising questions about local-level electoral strategies and shifting alliances.
