A significant land dispute has emerged in Gattu Mandal. Allegations suggest that Ramakrishna Reddy (RK Reddy), a close associate of the local MLA, is involved. Balram Naidu, leader of the Nadigadda Human Rights Protection Committee (NHPS), claims village panchayat land has been illegally seized with the MLA’s support.
The land, initially intended for community use, is now the site of an unauthorized commercial building, causing public outrage. Residents believe government officials are ignoring the illegal construction, possibly due to political influence or negligence.
“This construction is happening right in front of officials, yet they act as if nothing is wrong,” stated Balram Naidu.
He pointed out that the land was designated for village purposes, and such encroachments, especially with political backing, damage public trust and law enforcement.
NHPS Plans to Report to Senior Officials
Balram Naidu announced that NHPS will soon present the issue to higher district authorities. He stressed the committee’s dedication to legal action and advocacy to defend public property, promising to hold those responsible accountable.
“We will address this with district officials and pursue legal measures to restore the land to the village. No one is above the law,” he declared.
Concerns About Governance and Accountability
The situation raises concerns about the abuse of political power, with residents questioning the security of government land when powerful figures allegedly seize it without consequences.
This incident highlights the critical need for transparent governance and diligent oversight by local authorities, especially regarding public land.
