Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vemulawada for the first time, becoming the first Prime Minister to have darshan of the presiding deity Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy at Rajanna temple, also known as Dakshina Kashi. The temple has a historical background and is considered a sacred place.

Located in Sircilla, Rajanna Temple was once the capital of the Chalukyas and has attracted many scholars and dignitaries over the years. However, no Prime Minister had visited the temple before. Modi arrived by helicopter at 9:45 AM and went directly to the temple where he paid his respects and performed a special pooja for the deity. Vedic scholars blessed him and he greeted the devotees present at the temple.

As Modi made a circumambulation around the sanctum sanctorum, the devotees in line chanted “Shri Ram, Shri Ram” loudly. The Prime Minister acknowledged their greetings and saluted them from near the barricades. Elaborate security arrangements were made by the temple authorities to ensure his safety and the smooth conduct of the visit.
