Congress' Election Campaign in Belagavi to be Launched by Rahul Gandhi

Today, Rahul Gandhi, a member of the Indian National Congress, will launch the party’s election campaign in Belagavi, Karnataka. This comes after wrapping up the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the state. The Wayanad MP will address the “Yuva Kranti Samavesha,” a youth conference hosted by the party’s state committee on Monday. The rally takes place amidst a heated campaign for the upcoming summer assembly elections in Karnataka.

The event is expected to draw a large crowd, with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, D K Shivakumar, Leader of the Legislative Party, and Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah among those attending at the CPED grounds. The former Congress head is expected to announce the party’s fourth poll “promise,” which sources suggest will be focused on youth.

The Congress has already made three election “guarantees” known: 200 free electricity units for all households, and 2,000 rupees per month in support for the woman who is the head of every family member. The party has set a goal of capturing at least 150 of the 224 seats up for election in the Assembly to secure an absolute majority.
