India Invites Pakistani Officials to Attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Meetings
India has extended an invitation to Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and National Security Adviser (NSA) to attend the upcoming meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in New Delhi this April. The SCO is a regional intergovernmental organisation that includes China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
As India is currently holding the presidency of the SCO, it is set to host a series of meetings. Reportedly, Khawaja Asif has accepted India’s invitation to attend the SCO meeting. Additionally, India has also invited Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled for May.
The SCO aims to promote cooperation among its member states on issues such as security, economy, and culture. The participation of Pakistani officials in the upcoming meetings is expected to facilitate discussions on matters of mutual interest and contribute to strengthening regional ties.
