Pakistan participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) defence ministers’ summit hosted by India on Friday. The summit focused on improving collaboration between SCO member nations to tackle terrorism and extremism, as well as regional security circumstances, including developments in Afghanistan. Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif joined the meeting virtually.

The summit was chaired by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by other defence ministers from China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as observers from Belarus and Iran. India will host the next SCO Defence Ministers Meeting on April 28, 2023, while serving as the SCO’s Chair in 2023.
