The Delhi Power Minister, Atishi, announced that power subsidies for almost 46 lakh people in the city will stop from Friday, as the Lieutenant Governor, V K Saxena, has not yet approved the file to extend the subsidy to consumers. However, the LG’s office has said that the power subsidy extension for the year 2023-24 has been approved by Saxena, and accused Atishi of making false allegations. Atishi has requested a meeting with Saxena to discuss the issue, but there has been no response.

At a press conference, Atishi explained that the Delhi Cabinet has approved the extension of power subsidy for the year 2023-24, but the file is still pending in the LG office. Until the file is approved, they cannot give subsidies. She also said that she sent the file a few days ago and is still waiting for a response. The budget for this subsidy has been passed by the Vidhan Sabha, and the government has money for it, but they cannot spend it until the file is approved.

In response to Atishi’s allegations, an LG House official said that Atishi should refrain from making unnecessary political statements and false allegations against the LG. They also questioned why a decision on this matter was kept pending until April 4 when the deadline was April 15, and why the file was sent to LG on April 11. They accused Atishi and the CM of creating drama around this issue.

In conclusion, power subsidies for almost 46 lakh people in Delhi will stop from Friday until the file for the subsidy extension is approved by the LG office. The Delhi Cabinet has approved the extension, and the government has money for it, but they cannot spend it until the file is approved. Atishi has requested a meeting with Saxena to discuss the issue but has not yet received a response.
