The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded that the Election Commission immediately recognise it as a national party and provide it with all the facilities that a national party is entitled to during the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls. The Election Commission has said that it is reviewing the matter. AAP Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh has expressed disappointment that the poll panel has not yet taken any decision on the matter, despite the party fulfilling the conditions required to be declared a national party. These conditions include being recognised as a state party in four states and having at least two members in the respective legislative assemblies. The AAP has been recognised as a state party in Delhi, Punjab, Goa and Gujarat.
