    Sonia Gandhi Criticizes Modi Government for Undermining Democracy

    Sonia Gandhi, the president of the Indian National Congress, has lashed out at the Modi government for its alleged attempts to dismantle democracy in the country. In a scathing attack on the ruling party, Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “systematically eroding” democratic institutions and violating the constitution.

    Speaking at a virtual event organized by the Congress party to mark the 46th anniversary of the Emergency imposed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi said that the current government was “hell-bent” on destroying the foundations of democracy. She accused them of suppressing dissent, curbing free speech, and using state machinery to target political opponents.

    Gandhi also criticized the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that it had failed to provide adequate healthcare and support to the people. She accused the government of prioritizing its own political interests over the welfare of the citizens.

    The Congress president called on all opposition parties to unite against the Modi government and defend democracy. She urged them to fight for the rights of the people and hold the government accountable for its actions.

    The Modi government has faced criticism from several quarters for its alleged attempts to curb dissent and suppress opposition voices. The recent arrest of several journalists and activists under draconian laws has sparked outrage and protests across the country. The government has defended its actions, saying that it is only enforcing the law and maintaining law and order.
