Tomorrow marks the Passing-Out Parade of the Inaugural Agniveer Batch

On Tuesday, a passing-out parade (POP) will be held at INS Chilka to mark the completion of training for future water warriors. This event is unique as it will be the first-ever post-sunset POP held at INS Chilka, which is traditionally organized in the morning hours. The Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar will be the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer of the POP, along with Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Naval Command, and other senior officers and dignitaries.

This POP will be historic as it will be the first-ever passing out of Agniveers from any military training establishment in India. A total of 2,600 Agniveers, including 273 women Agniveers, will successfully pass out from the training program. Additionally, the ‘General Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy’ for the ‘Woman Agniveer Trainee Standing First in Overall Order of Merit’ will be presented to a deserving woman Agniveer by the daughters of the Late General Bipin Rawat. This award has been instituted after India’s first Chief of Defence Staff’s contribution towards the transformational Agnipath scheme.

The event will be attended by popular sports personalities and armed forces veterans as the Guests of Honour. Among them, Padma Shri winner PT Usha and former women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj will be present at the Parade. This event is an important milestone for the future water warriors who have completed their training and are ready to serve the nation.
