Hyderabad: Over 1,100 police officers from the 2009 batch of Sub-Inspectors in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh came together to honor their colleague M Ashok. Ashok was a Sub-Inspector and Station House Officer at Alamuru Police Station in Konaseema District.

Ashok died in a road accident near Kodad on June 26, while working. The accident also took the life of Constable Blesson Jeevon.

The officers visited Ashok’s hometown, Narsapuram, to meet his wife and sons. They provided emotional support and vowed to stand by the family. As part of their tradition, the 2009 Batch SIs Welfare Society gave the family a cheque for Rs 26,00,000.

Later, they paid respects to Constable Blesson Jeevon in Alamuru and gave his family Rs 5,00,000.

The 2009 Batch SIs Welfare Society was founded in 2020 to support officers and their families in crises. It has distributed nearly Rs 2 crore to help families facing hardships like death or illness.

This act of kindness by the 2009 Batch reflects strong unity and compassion within the police community. Their efforts have inspired other batches in the Telugu states to create similar support groups.
