Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar criticized Ambati Rayudu for his poor performance in the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Gavaskar was not happy with Rayudu’s shot selection on the second ball of his innings and questioned the Impact Player rule. Chennai Super Kings lost the match by 32 runs against Rajasthan Royals, who scored a record 202 for five. Winning skipper Sanju Samson praised the young players Jaiswal, Jurel, and Devdutt Padikkal’s aggressive batting. He also credited the team management and support staff for working hard at the academy to develop players like Jaiswal.

During the match, Gavaskar pointed out that players cannot just come out to bat and start hitting the ball without fielding. He compared Rayudu’s performance to Prithvi Shaw’s unsuccessful innings. Rayudu was dismissed for a second-ball duck.

Chennai Super Kings needed a flying start while chasing 203 runs to win, but they did not get it due to some very disciplined bowling from the Royals. The Royals opted to bat first and rode on breathtaking Jaiswal’s 43-ball 77 to reach the record total. Jaiswal and Jos Buttler shared 86 runs in 8.2 overs, making a brilliant start.
