Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs in the IPL 2023 match at Eden Gardens. Chennai restricted Kolkata to 186/8 while defending their score of 235. They moved to the top of the points table with this win.
Chennai’s Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande took two wickets each, while Jason Roy and Rinku Singh struck half-centuries for Kolkata. However, their efforts were not enough to chase down the mammoth total. Roy seemed injured and did not come to bat, and Narine was sent to open instead.
Despite some resistance from Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer, Chennai managed to bring down Kolkata’s score. Roy eventually came to bat at five but was dismissed by a beautiful carrom ball from Theekshana. Rinku kept smashing boundaries and got his fifty in 30 balls, but Kolkata still lost by a margin of less than 50 runs.
Chennai Super Kings scored 235/4 in 20 overs, while Kolkata Knight Riders managed only 186/8 in 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway, and Shivam Dube were the top scorers for Chennai, while Kulwant Khejroliya and Suyash Sharma took wickets for Kolkata.
