Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh praised the batting style of Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill, who hit his first IPL century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls, hitting 13 fours and a six, and was supported by Sai Sudharsan’s 47 runs off 36 balls. The Gujarat Titans put up a competitive score of 188/9 after Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up his second IPL fifer (5/31). Mohammad Shami (4/21) and Mohit Sharma (4/24) then restricted the Sunrisers Hyderabad to 154/9.

Harbhajan Singh said that Shubman Gill has all kinds of shots and chooses them according to the situation. When in rhythm, he plays pure cricketing shots, which is a testament to how strong his batting coaching has been. Sunil Gavaskar also praised Gill’s ability to read the ball well, saying that he has a lot of time to play shots. He added that Gill is in the right balance and executes his shots well.

The Gujarat Titans have already secured their spot in the top two with nine wins in 13 matches. They have one more game to play against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 21.
