The Indian cricket team’s performance in the second One-Day International (ODI) against Australia at Visakhapatnam was one of their worst at home. Their inability to handle swing bowling, especially against left-arm seamers like Mitchell Starc, was exposed. The same swing did not work for the Indian seamers, resulting in a 10-wicket defeat for the team. This is a major concern for skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid as they have limited time and opportunities to iron out the glitches ahead of the ICC World Cup. India’s insecurity against swing at the top of the order has been exposed time and again, making it a headache for the team. Even in the win at Mumbai, the Indian batting top-order struggled against Starc. The upcoming matches against the West Indies and Australia, Asia Cup, and the World Cup will be a challenge for India’s batters to consistently counter these challenges and make India a viable option for a World Cup win.
