The Delhi Capitals’ regular captain, Rishabh Pant, will not be participating in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League due to his injuries. While David Warner is leading the franchise in his absence, Pant is still showing his support for his team by watching their matches on TV. In fact, Pant shared a story on his Instagram account where he was seen cheering for Delhi Capitals during their opener clash against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Sports City Stadium on April 1. Fans were delighted to see his gesture for the team.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants’ Kyle Mayers made an impactful debut in the IPL by scoring 73 off 38 balls, including seven big sixes, against Delhi Capitals. Mayers filled in for the absent Quinton de Kock and helped his team post a total of 193/6 despite Delhi Capitals’ bowlers pulling things back a bit. The pitch was offering assistance to both pacers and spinners with seam, bounce, and turn. Lucknow got off to a cautious start and were 30/1 at the end of the Power-play. Skipper K.L Rahul fell in the fourth over after blasting a Chetan Sakariya half-volley for a big six. Mayers, on the other hand, went ballistic after the initial period of cautious play and hammered a flurry of sixes to prop up the LSG innings.
