As the IPL 2023 season approaches, all eyes are on Virat Kohli, the ex-skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. He is not only one of the leading run-getters in the history of IPL but also one of the finest white-ball cricketers of the generation. Kohli has several milestones in his sight that would motivate him to perform well in this season. His form would be a key factor for RCB’s fortunes this season. Here are the three records that Kohli could break in IPL 2023:

    1. Most IPL Centuries: Kohli had not scored a single IPL ton till 2015. In 2016, he turned things around by slamming four tons in that season alone. He then hit one in 2019, taking his tally to five centuries. Chris Gayle with six centuries to his name is at the top of the list. Kohli needs one more century to equal him and then another to go past him. It remains to be seen if Kohli can achieve this feat in this season.

    2. 100 Catches in IPL: Among active players, Kohli is at the second spot with 93 catches to his name. Rohit Sharma is at the top with 97 catches among active cricketers. Kohli has the opportunity to go past Rohit to the three-figure mark, where he will join Suresh Raina and Kieron Pollard.

    3. First-Ever to 7000 IPL Runs: Kohli could become the first player in the history of IPL to reach the 7000-run mark if he has a good run in this season. He is currently on 6,624 runs from 223 matches. Kohli needs another 376 runs to achieve this milestone.

RCB will play their opener against MI on April 2, and all eyes will be on Kohli to see if he can break these records and lead his team to victory.
