Hyderabad: A 21-year-old student, Irfan Hussain, was arrested by Film Nagar police for allegedly extorting money. He promised to help a man avoid a legal issue. Police presented Irfan in court, and he is now in judicial custody.
Last week, police caught a man with ganja. Irfan and his associate, Usman, approached the man’s father. They promised to release his son for Rs 10,000. The father paid, but later realized it was a scam and reported it.
After the complaint, police arrested Irfan. Usman and another associate, Srinivas, are on the run. Investigations revealed that Irfan lived with Usman in a rented apartment in Masab Tank for six years. Usman often tricked people by pretending to have political ties. Together, they targeted and cheated vulnerable individuals.
