Students tour ancient standing stones site

Students from Mother’s Lap High School in Wanaparthy district recently visited the historic standing stones in Mudumuru village, Narayanpet district. They were accompanied by their principal, Abdul Mubeen, and the Director of the Planetary Society of India, Raghunandan Rao. The visit took place on Saturday.

During the trip, Raghunandan Rao explained that these ancient stones show our ancestors’ knowledge of science. He said that the stones were used to track time, seasons, and astronomical events. He also mentioned that the constellation of the Big Dipper is engraved on the stones. Rao expressed confidence that these standing stones would soon be recognized as a world heritage site.

The purpose of the visit was to help students learn more about the scientific and historical importance of these stones. After returning to their school, the students attended a session where they learned about topics such as the solar system, space research, and astronauts’ lives in space. They also discussed the recent space mission of astronaut Sunita Williams. The session ended with a Q&A, where students’ questions were answered.
