Hyderabad: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court directed that the damaged forest at Kancha Gachibowli should be restored. “The state can develop an IT park elsewhere. More trees than those removed must be planted,” said Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran while reviewing the case about the forest.

State representatives told the court that activities in the area have stopped and a meeting was held. They are working on a comprehensive plan and promise a good proposal. The Chief Justice responded, “Present a good proposal, and we will replace our previous criticisms with genuine praise.”

Previously, the Chief Justice had threatened to imprison the Chief Secretary and other officials involved in the alleged destruction. The court noted that the state is considering a plan that balances environmental and wildlife interests with development. The matter will be revisited in six weeks.
