Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), displayed his bar-at-law degree from Lincoln’s Inn on Monday. This was in response to a campaign by the Aam Admi Party (AAP) to mock Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his educational qualifications. Owaisi showed his degree at a press conference at the party headquarters in Darussalam, stating that one should have no problem in showing their degree after furnishing all the details in their election affidavit. However, he refused to answer questions about whether he was demanding that Prime Minister Modi show his degrees. Owaisi made it clear that his actions were not related to the AAP campaign and that he was not part of any so-called opposition unity. He also criticised the Congress party, accusing it of compromising on its ideology and joining the competition of who is the biggest leader of Hindutva. Owaisi blamed the coalition government of Nitish Kumar and RJD for failing to check violence in Bihar and stated that the violence against Muslims will not stop unless the BJP controls organisations which support it.
