    The TSRTC is launching 50 electric AC buses, called ‘E-Garuda’, on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route. They will be inaugurated on Tuesday at Miyapur crossroads. The TSRTC plans to release the remaining 40 EV buses in phases by the end of the year, with one electric AC bus running every 20 minutes on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route. The TSRTC stated that 1,860 new electric buses will be available in the next two years, with 1,300 running in Hyderabad city, 550 to distant areas, and 10 double-decker buses serving Greater Hyderabad soon.

    These buses are 12 meters long with 41 seats and high-tech features such as mobile charging facilities and reading lamps. A panic button has been installed at every seat, and a vehicle tracking system is connected to the TSRTC control room. Three CCTV cameras have been installed in each bus, along with an Automatic Passenger Counter (APC) camera to count passengers. The buses also have destination details, Fire Detection Suppression System (FDSS), a public address system, and travel up to 325 km on a single charge.

    The TSRTC aims to provide better and comfortable travel experiences while also promoting environmental benefits and pollution prevention. The Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, TSRTC Chairman and MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, and MD VC Sajjanar will be present at the inauguration at Miyapur crossroads.
