Government assistance unknown to Andhra Pradesh students in Manipur, Hyderabad

Telangana students are set to return to Hyderabad on Monday morning, while students from Andhra Pradesh are still waiting for official information from the government. Even the helpline that the government claimed to have set up has not been helpful. One student from Andhra Pradesh studying at the Central Agriculture University shared that students from other states, such as West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, and Odisha, have already been evacuated, but Andhra Pradesh students have not received any help yet. Students could hear gunshots outside the campus during the first two days of unrest, but the situation has subsided since Sunday morning. However, Andhra Pradesh students are still desperate for information and have been unable to contact the helpline.

Another student from Telangana shared that they were informed by the government to be ready for airlifting at 5 am on Monday. They have suffered during the past four days and have only received proper food for the past two days. The situation of Telugu students studying at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Imphal is deteriorating, and they are only receiving one meal a day. The situation at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is still unknown.

There are around 250 Telugu students studying in CAU, NIT, and RIMS combined. Students from NIT and IIT have also reported a lack of proper response from AP officials. The in-charge hostel warden at CAU has received information that the Telangana government is planning to evacuate their students. Another student is concerned about what might happen if a violent mob attacks the college and hostel since local police are posted there. Ration is running out, and there are no supplies from outside.

The AP Education Minister stated that the government has identified 157 AP students stranded in Manipur and is working to bring them back safely.
