Hyderabad: Congress on Saturday charged the State government of not providing right of tribals on woodland lands.
Congress MP & & previous TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed the TRS government was not applying the Forest Rights Act, 2006 passed already Congress- led UPA government at the Centre to provide possession civil liberties to Girijans on woodland lands. He claimed the TRS government was making use of the term ‘Podu’ lands to rob Girijans of their civil liberties on woodland land as well as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was not honouring a regulation gone byParliament
Addressing a round-table conference, chaired by previous MLC B Ramulu Naik, on the problem held at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Uttam claimed, “In 2014, a total of 1,16,256 applications for 4,88,518 acres were pending. However, the present official data shows that the individual claims resolved up to June 30, 2022 were 97,536 for 3,10,916 acres. This means that the TRS govt, in the last eight years, did not give a single acre of forest land to the Girijans. Instead, it took away 18,655 acres of forest land from 1,950 Girijans,” he claimed.
Reddy claimed there was no location in the regulation for the development of area board to deal with the podu land problem. The Congress came close to the High Court as well as obtained a remain on the GO to quit its execution, he claimed. The Congress MP claimed as opposed to calling ‘Podu’ lands, they need to be described as woodland lands as well as their civil liberties need to be granted to qualifiedGirijans By making use of twisted terms, KCR govt was assisting in prohibited infringement on woodland lands by TRS leaders while snagging away the lands provided by the previous Congress govt to inadequate eligibleGirijans He claimed innocent Girijans were linked in incorrect situations when they asserted their civil liberties on woodland land based on the regulation.
