Gudur sanitation workers face four-month payment delay

Gudur Narayana Reddy, a senior leader of the BJP in the state, has called on the government to take immediate action to release the salaries of sanitation workers in Gram Panchayats. According to Reddy, these workers have not received their salaries for the past four months, despite staging protests and demanding payment. He notes that this has had severe consequences for many workers and their families, with some pushed to the brink of ruin.

Reddy explains that many Gram Panchayats rely on meager revenues from property taxes, which are often insufficient to cover their monthly expenses. As a result, they are dependent on funding from the Central Finance Commission and matching grants from the state government. However, Reddy alleges that the state government has diverted these funds away from the Gram Panchayats, leaving them without the resources to pay their workers.

Reddy argues that the state government is solely responsible for the non-payment of salaries to sanitation workers, and he criticizes the state of governance in the region. He urges the government to take swift action to address this issue and ensure that these workers receive the pay they are owed.
