The Election Commission of India is preparing for the upcoming Telangana State elections. A team of three senior officials, led by Deputy Election Commissioner Nitish Kumar Vyas, recently visited Hyderabad to review the arrangements. During the meeting with Chief Electoral Officer Vishwaraj and others, Vyas reviewed the voters’ list and instructed officials to prepare a defect-free list. He also directed the Chief Electoral Officer to prepare a list of returning officers across the state.
The Election Commission officials instructed state officials to start the first phase of testing electronic voting machines on June 1. They also instructed that a two-day workshop for District Election Officers be organized by the Election Commission. Chief Electoral Officer Vishwaraj reported that the Electronic Voting Machines have been placed in the districts after verification by the Electronic Corporation of India.
