N Sridhar, the current Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), has been selected to take over as the Chairman and Managing Director of the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC). The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recommended his name for the position after receiving seven applications for the post. The decision was made at a meeting held on Saturday and Sridhar’s name was recommended to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Sumit Deb, the previous CMD of NMDC, retired on February 28, and the responsibilities were temporarily handed over to Amitava Mukherjee, the Director of Finance. Following this, applications were invited for the full-time CMD post.
N Sridhar is a 1997 batch Telangana cadre IAS officer. He was appointed as the CMD of SCCL in January 2015. With his new role at NMDC, Sridhar will bring his expertise and experience to lead the company towards greater success. The NMDC is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, responsible for the exploration, production, and sale of iron ore in India.
