    The G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) had a three-day meeting in Hyderabad. 81 foreign delegates from G20 members, eight guest countries, five international organizations, and one regional organization attended. They discussed topics like mobile broadband, digital inclusion, and sustainable green infrastructure. Panelists included international and national experts who answered questions. Delegates also visited IIT-Hyderabad to see India’s innovative digital and telecom technologies, such as 5G and AI-powered test kits. A workshop on “Mutual Recognition Framework on Digital Skills” was held, where experts shared their best practices and latest initiatives. They discussed the importance of digital skills in creating a future-ready workforce.

    On the third day of the meeting, discussions were held on “Digital Public Infrastructure” and “Cyber Security in Digital Economy.” To bring coherence among the various working groups and parallel tracks of the G20, the respective leads from the GPFI and the Health WG presented their progress and linkages.

    Cultural programmes were organized during the three days to showcase Indian culture, cuisine, arts, and folk forms to the delegates. The next step is a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings among the G20 members. The third in-person meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group is scheduled to be held in Pune, Maharashtra in June 2023.
