The BRS party in Telangana is worried that the poor election performance of JD(S) in Karnataka could affect their own chances in the next Assembly elections. Party leader K Chandrasekhar Rao called a meeting of MPs and legislators to assess the situation and work out a strategy to counter the Congress party’s aggressive campaign in the state. Although party leaders have said that the Karnataka result won’t impact Telangana, there are concerns that Congress will become more active and visit the state, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka. The BRS meeting will also discuss plans for state formation day celebrations and a special Assembly session to review the government’s performance and bills returned by the Governor. Minister for Health T Harish Rao has accused the Governor of working against the interests of Telangana.
