The world’s first 3D printed Hindu temple is being built in Telangana. It’s being built by Apsuja Infratech, a city-based company, and Simpliforge Creations, a 3D-printed construction company. The temple is being built in an area of 3,800 square feet in Siddipet. The temple is a three-part structure with three sanctums. The three sanctums are dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Shankara, and Goddess Parvati.
The team has already completed two out of the three sanctums. The first one is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is shaped like a modak. The second one is a square abode devoted to Lord Shankara. The team is now working on the third one, which will be a lotus-shaped home for Goddess Parvati. The team is also building tall spires for the temple.
The dome-shaped modak was a challenge for the team, but they managed to print it in just six hours over a span of 10 days. The team hopes that what they learned from the modak will help them finish the lotus earlier than that.
Simpliforge Creations had previously built India’s first prototype bridge with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. The bridge was assembled on-site at Charvitha Meadows in Siddipet. After undergoing load testing and evaluation for functional use, it is now being used as a pedestrian bridge in the garden around the temple.
The team believes that 3D printing technology offers many benefits to the construction industry when it comes to free-form structures. They hope that the world’s first 3D printed temple will prove this to be true.
