YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader YS Sharmila, along with other party leaders and workers, were detained by the police when they attempted to lay siege to the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) office in Hyderabad on Friday. The protest was staged in response to the TSPSC exam paper leak, and tension prevailed at the office when the protesters arrived. Despite police attempts to disperse the crowd, Sharmila tried to proceed with the planned protest, leading to a commotion between both parties. Women police personnel lifted Sharmila and took her to a waiting police vehicle, while other protesters were also detained.

Sharmila alleged that only small fish had been arrested in the paper leak case, while those with more power were still free. She demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Sharmila also criticized the state government for not allowing her to protest peacefully and democratically, claiming that whenever she attempts to protest, she is placed under house arrest. She further stated that hundreds of policemen were deployed around her house, and a lookout notice had been issued for her, which she believed was unjustified.
