N. Ramchander Rao, Telangana BJP State President, blames the Congress government for the Telangana High Court’s temporary halt on 42% BC reservations in local elections. Speaking at the BJP state office, Rao accused Congress of compromising Backward Classes’ rights for political advantage and urged them to seek the Supreme Court’s intervention.
The court’s pause involves GO No. 9, which proposed increased BC reservations. Rao criticized the government’s rush in issuing the election notice before the required three-month period for the Governor to act on the bill passed by the Assembly, calling it illegal and insincere.
“The Congress government lacked legal clarity and commitment to BC welfare,” Rao stated. He accused them of ignoring Supreme Court guidelines by issuing the notification too early, resulting in harm to BCs.
Rao also claimed that Congress supporters filed the petitions against the 42% reservation and accused the ruling party of falsely blaming the BJP for blocking the process. “They’re trying to divert attention from their own failures,” he added.
He emphasized BJP’s support for BC reservations, mentioning their legal fight for 57% reservation in Madhya Pradesh. “We are dedicated to BC empowerment, unlike Congress, which uses their rights politically,” Rao said. He demanded Congress approach the Supreme Court to fix legal issues and ensure justice for BCs.
Rao called for genuine governance and legal responsibility, arguing that Congress lacks both the intent and knowledge to defend BC interests in Telangana.
