Wyra (Khammam): ITC’s Mission Sunehra Kal (MSK), in partnership with ARHEDS and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), organized a tree planting event at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School and Junior College (TGSWRS/Jr) in Wyra on Monday to boost environmental awareness.
The initiative included planting over 250 saplings of 10 native species around the school. This effort aimed to increase biodiversity, improve the local green area, and educate students about the environment.
Several notable figures attended, such as Anil Kumar Epur, Chairman of the CII Green Landscape Committee, K.S. Venkatagiri, Executive Director of CII – Green Business Centre, and Rekha, Senior Counsellor of CII-GBC. Representatives from ITC, including Usharani and Chengal Rao, were also present, along with R. Jayaprakash, Senior Programme Manager of ITC MSK Telangana, and Dr. D. Samatha, the school’s Principal.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of large tree planting projects in fighting climate change, preserving biodiversity, and encouraging community environmental efforts.
R. Jayaprakash explained that planting native trees helps restore ecological balance and teaches students about conservation early on.
Students actively participated in the planting and discussed environmental topics with the guests. Dr. Samatha praised the effort, emphasizing the educational value and support for the state’s environmental goals.
This initiative is part of ITC MSK’s dedication to sustainable living and ecological protection, with ARHEDS managing the program at the community level.
