University of Hyderabad issues clarification on suspension of five students

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) administration clarified the suspension of five students who apologized for protesting at the Vice Chancellor’s residence. The students requested reconsideration of their punishment, which will be discussed in a future university executive council meeting.

The university suspended five students, including the students’ union president, Mohammed Ateeq Ahmed, for one semester and fined them Rs 10,000 for participating in the protest. Additionally, five more SFI UoH unit office bearers were also fined Rs 10,000.

The suspended students met with the VC and publicly apologized for their actions on June 20. However, they continued protesting since Monday to pressure the university administration into revoking their suspension and penalties.

The students’ union persisted with their protest on Tuesday, calling for the administration to lift the suspensions and fines.
