In Hyderabad, Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, a former Indian diplomat and Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, praised journalists for boldly covering Muslim and cultural issues. He encouraged veteran reporters to guide newcomers in the field. He spoke at an event held at the Media Plus Auditorium, honoring journalists Mir Ayoob Ali Khan and Aziz Ahmed for their impressive 50-year careers and societal contributions.

The Media Plus Foundation and Gawah Urdu Weekly organized the event. Dr. Sayeed stressed the importance of education, especially for women, stating that educated women ensure their children receive an education.

Dr. Sayeed presented mementos and shawls to the honored journalists. Afreen Khundmiri, daughter of the late Talib Khundmiri, engaged the audience with a poem recital. Syed Khaled Shahbaaz smoothly conducted the event.

Highlighting economic empowerment, Dr. Sayeed mentioned entrepreneurs and scientists as key figures. He announced plans for his websites, IndianMuslims.com and MuslimWoman.com, to document the history of Muslim journalists since 1857, emphasizing the importance of preserving these legacies.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Sayeed shared that his success came through hard work, not charity, proving dedication matters more than one’s background. Mir Ayoob Ali Khan recounted his journey from starting at Daily News with a salary of Rs 100 to working at United News of India, Saudi Gazette, and now Siasat.com. He urged more Muslim involvement in journalism and education, noting the opportunities available today.

Aziz Ahmed shared his transition from part-time roles at Bharat News and Blitz to Etemaad Daily, advising others to give their best efforts to gain recognition.

Amirullah Khan, a former civil servant and editor, Syed Fazil Hussain Parvez, Chief Editor of Gawah Urdu Weekly, Khaja Naseruddin, Administrator of Dr. VRK Women’s Medical College, Dr. Abid Moiz, and others attended the event.
