Siddipet: On Tuesday, Minister Vivek Venkataswamy criticized the former BRS government for not building promised double-bedroom houses for the poor in villages. He highlighted that the Congress government has now approved Indiramma houses for every village, which has brought joy to the beneficiaries.
The minister checked the construction progress of Indiramma houses in the 37th ward of Siddipet town and Ensanpally village. He also shared a meal with the beneficiaries there.
Vivek accused the BRS government of misusing Rs 8 lakh crore and leading the state into debt. He promised that sand for construction would be provided to beneficiaries in Siddipet, and an additional 300 houses would be approved after December.
He claimed that Rs 1 lakh crore was wasted on the Kaleshwaram project, suggesting it was done for commissions. He stressed that building homes for the poor was a priority, fulfilling the long-standing dreams of many through Indiramma houses.
Vivek criticized BRS working president KT Rama Rao for boasting about the Kaleshwaram project in Mumbai, arguing that he lacked understanding of its practicality.
Vivek remarked, “Creating a massive lift irrigation project without considering who would pay the electricity bills shows poor planning. Constructing where water flows naturally by gravity was a Tughlaq-like idea.”
He reiterated that the KLIP decision wasted Rs 1 lakh crore and opposed such large-scale projects.
He concluded by stating that after the Congress took power, it launched people-serving schemes like fine rice distribution, Indiramma houses, free electricity, free bus travel for women, and welfare programs.
