Russian Secretary of the Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, is currently in India to attend the 18th Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states in New Delhi. As the current chair of the SCO, India hosted a meeting of National Security Advisors (NSA). During his visit, Patrushev met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. He also held a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, where they discussed regional and international issues, as well as ways to further cooperation between the two countries in the field of security. This meeting comes as Russian energy giant Rosneft announced a deal to ramp up oil sales to India, with Moscow’s oil sales to India surging more than twentyfold last year.
