The French government has recently prohibited public-sector employees from downloading “recreational applications” on their work phones, including the popular social media app TikTok. The decision was made following similar bans in other European countries. The ban applies to professional telephones given to public servants, and the public services ministry has stated that TikTok would be among the banned apps. TikTok currently has 150 million users in Europe, with 25 million users in the United Kingdom alone, and over a billion users worldwide. This move is part of an effort to increase productivity and prevent distractions during work hours.
