India is leading the way in advancing the G-20’s positive agenda. At a recent meeting of foreign ministers, India created an agenda to discuss some of the world’s most pressing challenges and find solutions. President Joe Biden is looking forward to attending the G-20 Leaders Summit in India in September. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Donald Lu, said that 2023 would be a big year for the India-US relationship. Japan is hosting the G7 this year, and the United States is hosting APEC. The QUAD members are also taking on leadership roles, providing opportunities for countries to come closer together.

India is the president of the G-20, allowing it to stand as a force for good in the world. Lu praised India’s leadership and thanked it for hosting the G-20 Foreign Ministerial meeting last month. He also mentioned the QUAD ministerial meeting in March, where all four foreign ministers came together to support the people of the Indo-Pacific. Lu welcomed the arrival of new US Ambassador Eric Garcetti and said that he was looking forward to meeting with India.

Lu emphasized that the G-20 is a powerful forum where leading economies can come together to respond to global challenges such as food security, health, energy insecurity, climate change, and unsustainable debt. He expressed gratitude for India’s work in creating an agenda for foreign ministers to discuss pressing challenges and find solutions.
