Indiramma Canteens have started serving affordable meals in Hyderabad. On Monday, new locations opened at Moti Nagar X Roads and Khairatabad Mint Compound. The launch event featured Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi.
These canteens offer breakfast and lunch for only ₹5 each. The meals are nutritious, warm, and hygienic, benefiting low-income families, students, laborers, and drivers.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) significantly subsidizes the meal costs, covering ₹14 for breakfast and ₹24.83 for lunch. This initiative can help individuals save up to ₹3,000 monthly.
Currently, 150 canteens operate across the city, serving more than 30,000 people daily. They maintain cleanliness and provide facilities like drinking water, comfortable seating, and handwashing stations.
