The number of firecracker-related injuries in Hyderabad has climbed to 19 following Diwali celebrations, with 11 of the victims being children, according to doctors at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Mehdipatnam. Most of the injured sustained eye burns and other facial injuries while lighting or watching firecrackers.
Hospital officials said that two patients have been admitted for further treatment and observation, and doctors are considering surgical procedures for some of the more severe cases. “We are closely monitoring their condition and will proceed with surgery if necessary,” said a duty doctor at the hospital.

AIMIM MLA from Nampally, Majid Hussain, visited the hospital to check on the patients. He interacted with doctors to understand the nature of the injuries and ensured that all victims are receiving proper medical care. The MLA also met with the injured individuals and their families, expressing concern and urging authorities to prioritize their recovery.

This year’s incidents once again highlight the dangers of unsafe firecracker use, especially among children, and the importance of celebrating festivals responsibly.
