The Telangana Legislative Council has unanimously passed the Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill. This bill provides for 42% reservations in local bodies, ensuring better representation for marginalized communities.

Minister Seethakka stated that if the central government grants legal validity to the bill, the percentage of reservations could be increased further. She emphasized that this amendment aims to strengthen local governance by promoting social justice and equitable political participation.

The minister also expressed confidence that the central government would support the bill. If approved, it could pave the way for enhanced reservations in local institutions, further empowering underrepresented groups in grassroots democracy.
