Hyderabad Metro has taken down all ads linked to offshore betting platforms after a legal complaint reached the Telangana High Court.

The action comes after a public interest litigation (PIL) accused Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) of allowing ads that promoted illegal betting sites like 1xBET, Fairplay, and Myjackpot777. These ads were seen across various metro stations and metro-related areas.

On Tuesday, the state’s Advocate General, A. Sudharshan Reddy, told the court that all such ads had been fully removed. He confirmed that no betting promotions remain on any HMRL property.

The court had earlier demanded a response from HMRL after the PIL raised concerns about the legality of advertising offshore betting services on public transport property.

Following the complaint, metro officials acted quickly to clear all betting-related content from their premises.

The court acknowledged the government’s update and is expected to keep an eye on future advertising in public spaces, especially those connected to government services.
