During the Bonalu festival in Ramanthapur, a Sub-Inspector (SI) and two police constables were attacked by a group.
At about 9:30 pm, police stopped a speeding car near the festival. The occupants fled the scene. Later, a drunk man approached the police, demanding the return of his car. Officers directed the man and the vehicle to the station.
Following this, a group of 8 or 9 people arrived, shouting at the officers. One individual grabbed the SI’s shirt and assaulted him. As other policemen intervened, they too were attacked. The group chased and continued to beat the officers as they attempted to escape. Known attackers include Rama Raj, Laxman, Anil, and Sai.
The Uppal Police filed charges under various sections:
- Section 121(1): Serious assault on a police officer to obstruct duty.
- Section 132: Using force to obstruct a police officer.
- Section 191(2): Rioting, involving group violence.
Currently, a case is active. Police are working to apprehend the suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
