In Hyderabad, the Congress criticized the BJP, calling it an opportunistic party. They argued that since the BJP had no role in India’s Independence, it shouldn’t discuss Hyderabad State’s merger with India. Former MP V Hanumantha Rao suggested celebrating September 17 as Integration Day.
At Gandhi Bhavan, Hanumantha Rao addressed the media, condemning the BJP for spreading misinformation to further its agenda. He accused the party of using the day as ‘liberation day’ to influence local elections in Telangana with deceptive tactics.
He stated that the merger was between equals and claimed the BJP often creates divisions among castes and religions for its gain. He assured that despite their conspiracies and provocative speeches, the people of Telangana remain aware and won’t be misled.
