Hyderabad experienced more rain on Sunday, impacting various parts of the city. The rain led to waterlogged streets and slowed down traffic significantly.
The showers provided relief from the heat but also caused flooding. Starting around 7 PM, the rain surprised many who were out during the weekend. Water quickly pooled on roads, leading to floods in some neighborhoods. Areas like Gachibowli, Madhapur, Nanakramguda, Hitech City, Punjagutta, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Secunderabad, and Kukatpally saw heavy traffic jams.
Rain hit several regions including Miyapur, Kukatpally, Moosapet, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Nampally, Chaderghat, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Hayatnagar, Kapra, and Abdullapurmet. Other affected areas included Kothapet, Bowenpally, Marredpally, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Lakdikapul, Filmnagar, Gachibowli, Borabanda, Yousufguda, and parts of the Old City.
By 9 PM, Defense Colony Hayath Nagar recorded the highest rainfall at 85.5 mm. Kapra saw 68.5 mm, while the Kushiaguda ward office received 60 mm of rain.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad predicts more heavy rain and thunderstorms across Telangana until the end of September. These conditions are expected to last until September 25, with different districts experiencing varying levels of intensity.
Authorities advise residents to be cautious when traveling, as sudden rains can cause waterlogging and disrupt traffic in low-lying parts of Hyderabad. People are encouraged to avoid traveling in affected areas and to stay informed through official weather updates.
