A major water pipeline break will leave thousands of Hyderabad residents without drinking water until Thursday evening, November 13.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) announced the service interruption after a significant rupture occurred in the Krishna Phase-II main water line.
More than 20 neighborhoods across the city will face water shortages during this period. The affected locations include Vanasthalipuram, Autonagar, Vaishalinagar, Nagole, Badangpet, Lenin Nagar, Barkas, Maisaram, Tarnaka, Buddh Nagar, Lalapet, Maredpally, Prakashnagar, Patigadda, Mekalamandi, Mahendra Hills, Cantonment, Hasmathpet, and Balanagar.
The water crisis began when a power failure struck the Kodandapur Water Treatment Plant. This outage caused severe damage to the massive 2,375-millimeter diameter pipeline that supplies water to these residential areas.
HMWSSB officials expect to complete repairs and restore full water service by Friday morning. The board is working around the clock to fix the damaged infrastructure and minimize disruption to daily life.
City residents in the affected zones should prepare for the temporary shortage by storing water and using their supplies carefully. The water board recommends conserving water during this critical repair period.
This pipeline serves as a crucial link in Hyderabad’s water distribution network, carrying treated water from the Krishna Phase-II project to densely populated residential areas across the metropolitan region.
