Income Tax Department officials have been conducting extensive raids across multiple prominent restaurant chains in Hyderabad for two consecutive days. The operations have targeted Pista House, Shah Ghouse, and Mehfil Hotels, resulting in significant seizures.
Officials have recovered approximately Rs 20 crore in cash and a substantial quantity of gold during the ongoing inspections. The raids are being conducted under the direct supervision of senior Income Tax Department officials.
The searches have been carried out at the residences of Pista House owner Mohammed Majid and Mohammed Mastan located in Rajendranagar Golden Heights Colony. Simultaneous raids have also been conducted at the homes of chairmen and directors of Shah Ghouse and Mehfil establishments.
The operation spans across a total of 30 locations in Greater Hyderabad. Key areas under inspection include Lakdikapool, Shaikpet, Attapur, Tolichowki, and Gachibowli.
During the searches, officials have uncovered critical documents revealing financial irregularities. The seized materials include evidence of benami assets registered in the names of employees and workers. Investigators have also identified multiple bank lockers held under various individuals’ names.
Sources indicate that the department has found evidence suggesting that black money was being circulated through hawala channels. This discovery has prompted officials to expand the scope of their investigation.
The raids, which began two days ago, are expected to continue today as well. Officials are meticulously examining financial records, property documents, and banking transactions related to these restaurant chains.
The three restaurant brands targeted in this operation are well-known establishments in Hyderabad, particularly famous for their Hyderabadi cuisine and sweets. Pista House is especially renowned for its traditional Hyderabadi haleem and bakery products.
Income Tax officials have deployed multiple teams to ensure thorough scrutiny of all documents and assets. The investigation is focusing on potential tax evasion and undisclosed income sources.
